There are only a few proper SEO plugins on the market today and in this article I will show you what I use and why.

Now, SEO is many things but here I will ONLY focus on the basics. If you want cache plugins and speed optimization check this instead.

Well backlinks are also part of any great SEO strategy but it is not a part of the core basics. So check this if you need to know more about Backlinks and Page Ranking.

When I talk about SEO Plugins I care most about keywords and how to basically build your article around keywords. That includes Meta Data.

The few plugins that are left are these:

• All In One SEO
• SeoPress
• Yoast
• RankMath

All In One SEO

I also tried All in One SEO an a number of pages and had it installed for years, but it simply didn’t have the same appeal as Yoast. Actually I just removed All In One SEO from my last website today because of a bug.

SEO Press

SEO Press is very simple. It does the same things that Yoast started out with in 2010. So it is very simple compared to the other SEO plugins where you get a lot more functionality.

The short story is: There are only TWO top SEO plugins out there!

Yoast SEO Plugin

Many years ago we basically only had Yoast. He was the first one to create a full fledged SEO plugin and I used it for years. Well I found a few bugs but not fatal bugs. Mind you all plugins can have bugs! Yoast has an advantage because he was first and it took some years before serious competition showed up.

I was happy with Yoast and his plugin did what it should. Basically fix the basics so WordPress became a more SEO friendly installation.

His red, yellow & green indicators was a great success!

Yoast SEO is extremely popular.

Rank Math

in 2016 I began getting bored creating websites so I stopped taking innew clients and only focused on those I had. In 2018 I also decided to stop servicing them unless something fatal came up.

But I didn’t manage to stop entirely before my son one day showed up, telling me he had decided he wanted a career in Web Design. He wanted to reopen my old website, give it an overhaul and get going as fast as possible. He was 17 at that time.

We did a handful of websites, some of them from my old customers who wanted a new design and one day we sat down and talked about which tools we should invest in. We decided to go for DIVI and RankMath!

At that time I had been using RankMath for a few years but we upgraded to the pro version to get better keyword coverage and try out the new AI functions. I am a sucker for AI and I knew that AI would become a bigger and bigger factor in Search Engine Optimization.

Rank Math has soooooo much to offer and it has become an indispensable part of creating a website for us. You see – we always do all the basic SEO stuff on any website so it basically has the best chances in Google.

This means Keywords! Finding the right Keywords!

As you can see from the above description I haven’t done an awful lot about mentioning features of other plugins than RankMath. That is simply because they do not have the functionality RankMath offers.

Even the free version of RankMath offers a lot more than the rest combined!

At the time of writing Yoast has more than 5.000.000 installations and RankMath has +1.000.000. This means that Rank Math is gaining fast on Yoast and if Yoast doesn’t do something, he will lose that race.

Well – the smallest Pro version from Yoast is $229 and the smallest Pro version from Rank Math is $59

The biggest version from Yoast is $18.261 and the biggest from Rank Math is STILL only $59!

So Rank Math wins big on the price too!
